Release 0.6 still not visible PDF Print E-mail

On last february, in article "Road to 0.6 is a long way", I stated the little progress made on release 0.6. To day, I can just state the same report : release 0.6 is far from being completed. The cellar map was started but to finished. There is also a lot of bugs to take in consideration.

What next?

It is clear that release 0.6 would not be included in the next release of major linux distributions:

  • Fedora 14 : 2/11/2010
  • Ubuntu 10.10 : 10/10/2010
  • Mandriva 2011 : no planning
  • Debain squeeze : actually without a release date

Despite this, this version must progress! Looking in my crystal ball, I propose the following schedule:

alpha 1 17/10/2010
alpha 2 14/11/2010
beta 1 28/11/2010
beta 2 19/12/2010
finale 9/1/2011

The deal is now to follow this schedule!

Le Caviste 0.6 (code name Vercors) is still in developpement. It was very difficult with year to work on this new version due to other things to do. Even if an inventory module (see FS#25) was implemented (and need to be tested), the second major feature - a record bin location - (see FS#19) was not started nor specified.

Consequently, on year after Le Caviste 0.5, the new version is far from being released.

Le Caviste 0.5 was just released, that the next version (0.6) (code name Vercors) is under development. The Roadmap and date release are not yet defined but feel free to enter a new feature request on the bug tracking system and vote on the pool.

February 21, 2009. The Le Caviste Community today announced the immediate availability of Le Caviste 0.5. 

Le Caviste 0.5 is a full rewrite of the application as explained in article Version 0.5 in development.
